Aviva launches tokenized sterling liquidity fund share class on XRP Ledger

Aviva Investors and Ripple announced on October 26, 2026 the launch of a new tokenized share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The underlying money-market fund manages about £22 billion and is Aviva Investors' largest fund.

What was launched

The launch concerns a tokenized share class, not the transfer of the entire £22 billion portfolio onto a blockchain. Aviva Investors describes the structure as a digital twin: investors' holdings are represented on-chain while the fund, its underlying assets and its legal structure continue to operate through traditional infrastructure.

Aviva has invested £50 million in the new share class. Including the tokenized U.S. dollar liquidity-fund share class launched in July, the group says it has invested more than £86 million across the two solutions.

What remains unchanged

According to the company, the investment objective, risk profile, liquidity and regulatory protections remain the same as those of the conventional share class, which has operated since 2002. Assets are held by BNY, while Komainu and Licuido support operational and technology aspects. Access is intended for eligible investors with a digital wallet.

Why it matters

The initiative brings a major traditional asset manager into tokenization using an established UCITS money-market fund. The potential benefits are mainly operational: digital records, faster processes and greater position transparency. It does not mean the product automatically becomes available to retail investors or freely usable in decentralized finance.

Actual adoption, platform interoperability, key custody, cybersecurity and secondary-market liquidity remain areas to watch. The size of the underlying fund should not be confused with the value currently represented on-chain.
