Crypto Buzz: Strategy pauses purchases while Strive adds 6,182 BTC

SEC filings dated October 26, 2026 show a clear divergence between two U.S. companies pursuing Bitcoin treasury strategies. The contrast is drawing attention from the crypto community, but it should be read as a corporate treasury trend rather than a reliable signal about the direction of the market.

Strategy: no new Bitcoin purchases

Between October 19 and October 25, Strategy neither bought nor sold Bitcoin and did not issue new shares through its at-the-market programs. Its holdings remained at about 848,517 BTC, acquired over time for $64.02 billion at a reported average cost of roughly $75,446 per Bitcoin.

During the same period, the company allocated $204.9 million to repurchase 2,068,459 STRC preferred shares. The pause in BTC purchases therefore coincides with a different capital-allocation decision and does not necessarily indicate a bearish view on the asset.

Strive: roughly $511 million purchase

Strive, by contrast, purchased 6,182 BTC between October 17 and October 23 at an average price of about $82,732 including fees and expenses. The outlay was approximately $511.4 million, bringing its reported treasury to 43,000 BTC.

The trend, without turning it into a forecast

The contrast is fueling debate about public companies that finance Bitcoin accumulation through equity or preferred securities. However, two corporate decisions alone do not measure overall institutional demand and cannot be used to predict the price of BTC.

These choices also depend on the cost of capital, the market price of the company's securities relative to asset value, available liquidity and obligations to shareholders. It is therefore more accurate to view this as an evolution in treasury strategies while keeping SEC-filed data separate from community sentiment.
