Crypto Buzz: 70% of Binance altcoins move above the 200-day average, but altseason is not confirmed

Crypto Buzz tracks market narratives and community sentiment; it is not a price forecast. A CryptoQuant analysis reported on September 20, 2026 suggested that about 70% of Binance-listed altcoins were trading above their 200-day moving average, the broadest participation since October 2025.
The data behind the trend
The same analysis noted that TOTAL3, a measure of the crypto market excluding Bitcoin and Ether, had moved above $800 billion for the first time in roughly eight months. That points to broader recovery across altcoins in US-dollar terms.
Why this is not yet an altseason signal
Blockchaincenter's Altcoin Season Index stood near 41, well below the 75 threshold commonly used to confirm an altcoin season. Bitcoin dominance was also around 59.34%, indicating that a broad and established rotation from Bitcoin into altcoins had not yet been confirmed.
How to read it
More assets above a long-term moving average can show improving breadth, but it does not establish a durable trend or predict future returns. The signal should be monitored alongside relative performance versus Bitcoin, liquidity, market structure and macro conditions.
